Wishbone and Angel

November 19, 2016 by

I am so very grateful to Dr. Dove – she made an otherwise terrible day into something of it a release.  Wishbone is grateful as well.

We rescued Wishbone from a small shelter in MO in 1990.  He was crippled and had obviously not been able to make to the food dish in his wire cage.  He was 3 months old and weighed 8 oz.  We could not believe he lived long enough to make it home to CO.  He was so weak he could not eat on his own.  We get formula and a bottle by our bed.  He slept on one of our chests.  He would wake up every hour or so like a newborn kitten and need to be fed.  We say the baby formula saved his life.  When we took him back to CO vet in 3 weeks he could not believe it was the same kitten – he looked so good and had put on so much weight.  His soft gray coat was so beautiful that we called him the velveteen rabbit.  We named him Wishbone because he was crippled and missing a bone in his left front arm.  He had lots of other genetic problems as well including a large hole in his diaphragm.  We never thought he would live long much less to 21.  He amazed us all and taught us a lesson of love.  Photos are attached including with his BFF Angel (passed away 2008 pancreatic cancer)

Thank you for your kindness
